ORNL's Sen receives Drell Academic Award

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Jan. 5, 2016 – Satyabrata Sen of the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory has been awarded the 2016 Sidney D. Drell Academic Award by Intelligence and National Security Alliance, an organization of public, private and academic sectors within the national security and intelligence communities.

Sen, a researcher in ORNL's Computer Science & Mathematics Division, came to ORNL as a Wigner fellow and is currently a member of the Complex Systems group.  His award is based on his contributions to the Department of Homeland Security Domestic Nuclear Detection Office's Intelligent Radiation Sensing System projects.

The award is named for Sidney D. Drell, a Fermi Award-winning theoretical physicist, arms control expert and professor emeritus at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
