The center, which serves as a focal point for research and development of bioprocessing at ORNL, is part of the DOE Bioprocessing Consortium that includes Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, Ill., the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., and the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory in Idaho Falls, Idaho. It has a primary emphasis on bioprocess development and an increasing emphasis on technology transfer in the industrial sector.
Scott has worked at ORNL since December 1984 in the Chemical Technology Division. He was promoted to group leader in the area of bioprocessing in 1992.
Scott holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
A 1976 graduate of Oak Ridge High School, Scott currently lives in Knoxville with his wife, Leigh Anne, and son, Ryan.
ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Martin Marietta Energy Systems, a Lockheed Martin company, which also manages the Oak Ridge K-25 Site and the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
