Douglas E Keener

Doug Keener, System Engineering Group Lead, joined ORNL in 2004. He has supported the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division of the Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate for more than 19 years, primarily at the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center.

Prior to his current role, Doug served as Task Leader, Facility Engineer, Cognizant System Engineer, Group Lead, and Complex Facility Manager.

His efforts have been key to the success of many facility upgrade projects, as well as to the development of a robust configuration management program.


Before joining ORNL, Doug provided engineering support for Tennessee Valley Authority fossil plants and support for decontamination and decommissioning of Manhattan Project-era facilities throughout the U.S. Department of Energy complex.

He holds a Bachelor Science degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Science degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
