Administrative Project Support

The ORNL team welcomed Sandy MacPherson in 2008. In her current role as Pu-238 Project administrative assistant, she prioritizes tasks; schedules resources; assists with recruiting, hiring and onboarding new staff members; coordinates site visits, agendas and seminars; and manages information flow and communications internally and externally. This includes scheduling appointments and calendar invitations, preparing and reviewing written materials, organizing and coordinating travel arrangements, including reservations, conference registrations, transportation, and expense settlements, as well as establishing and organizing meetings, workshops, conferences, and related services. In addition to managing documents and records, assists researchers with proposal coordination, special projects and assignments; tracks action items, uses various ORNL business systems; manages a professional office atmosphere, greeting and assisting visitors; and other tasks as needed.

Sandy served previously as the Director of Operations for Florida Marketing Company for five years and as an Assistant Project Manager for an IT company prior to that. Additionally, she has completed the Community Organization and Leadership training program offered by the Knoxville Police Department.
